When you Get yourself a Facelift to acquire or Keep a Job?
A recently available article by Penelope Trunk, "Why Your Career Needs www.surgerystar.com/nikki-cox-plastic-surgery Cosmetic surgery-Literally" made a firestorm of mostly negative comments. The gist of her article is when you need to gain in the business world, you need to look great. That means, possibly having cosmetic surgery, fixing your teeth, and finding myself shape.
Many women content with that they look didn't like Ms. Trunk's advice. Most were adamant that their ordinary appearance failed to hinder their success. Then again, how could they understand surely? Perhaps an above average appearance can have paid back in sustained success.
Unfortunately, appearance is usually a way of measuring competence. Whenever you look old, or just "older" the assumption is for some reason you must be mentally and/or physically compromised. It's worse for ladies. Withered old males are "wise"; wrinkled old women are, well, old.
We should get real. We reside in a disgustingly ageist society. Practically we unlike "old" people, it's not at all normal to understand what they have to make available, except, perhaps, whenever they make fools of themselves. We laugh at old people after they behave like immature teenagers craving attention. Witness Betty White on SNL. Precisely what is so funny about a old woman which has a raunchy mouth? Yes, I know criticism of bawdy banter makes a person a classic fuddy-duddy, but so what. She didn't do anything to raise the status, potential, or dignity of mature women.
Betty is free of charge to do as she chooses along with her appearance but imagine she had gotten a facelift, returned fit, and used her celebrity and comedic talent to inspire older women to explore and develop their latent potential in manners that will not denigrate the number of years lived. God knows there is a shortage of seen role models to encourage mature women to create one of the most of these accumulated wisdom, experience, and untapped abilities.
Then there exists Joan Rivers. Say what will you about her cosmetic surgeries, but the girl with certainly interesting to look at, and that i suspect she sells much more of her wares within the home shopping channel because she does look great--as fake as everyone knows it's. Think it over - would you be more inclined to get jewelry through the wrinkly, saggy version of Joan Rivers or perhaps the new and improved, youthful, inspiring Joan Rivers?
Women (and men) who would like to broaden their opportunities do what they think they need to do in order to get ahead. Most of us make career choices along with the choice to have cosmetic surgery is just as valid to be a choice to get back on school to acquire an MBA if that's what you think it will require to help you get in places you want to will end up in life.
For anyone who is content with your appearance, lucky you. If you're dissatisfied, lucky you also when you aren't required to experience everything you don't like about your appearance, specifically if you realize its holding you back from reaching your potential.
